Old House
If this old house could talk...
Hubby being venturous. Notice the size of Mr. Homemakersheart by the house. He is 6 ft tall. The house is raised about 2 feet off the ground, there were steps in the back to get up in it. Old but beautiful.
Lovely hair day!! Tee hee hee, I love to do these kinds of shots. It's fun to see if they turn out. Hubby was talking to his dad. All is well and recovery is going good (not quick enough apparently). Thank you for all your prayers. I believed God listened as his recovery has been excellent.Hubby and I went for a drive on Sunday. I wanted to take pictures of old barnes and homes. We got one, but a storm rolled in so off we went back home until another day. This home is here in south Georgia between Leesburg and Americus (45 min drive). I used to drive past it everyday and have always wanted to stop and see it. Now I have. I wish I would have taken pictures of the inside, but my mind was busy being concerned about hubby walking on the floor that was disintegrating. Yep, adventurous "Joe" here, walked on the beams on the floor so he wouldn't fall through. The inside was interesting. Much smaller than you would think from the picture. It is a 2 room house with a brick fireplace right in the middle. Facing the front (the pictures above) the right is the "living room/dining room" etc room, and the left is the sleeping area. We will be out and about again soon. So many barns I have fallen in love with since we have lived here are being over taken with vines and weather conditions.
Tip: never where cute girlie sandals while trucking through weeds to go barn lookin'

Yard sale find
Before
AfterI made out like a bandit last week at several yard sales. A new recliner for $25 (and the $$ went to a new Christian school opening), 2 bar-stool type chairs for $5 and 2 end tables for $5. As you can see the chairs got recovered and look very nice. The end tables still need some attention though. Hubby was still in New Mexico with his Dad when I went, tee hee hee. He almost died when I said I could fit all my "treasures" in my car, I had to come home and get the truck. LOL
Oh yeh, I also got a carving knife set...very old...for fifty cents. All the cutlery is still in the plastic too. It was the girls grandmother's set and she didn't want it anymore. Fifty cents!!!! And it's in the original box too. She must have been in the sun to long, but I bought it.

Update
My dad is changing cardiologist, so his surgery has been put off a few weeks. Please continue to pray for him. Though he doesn't like me to talk about God and church, I mentioned "God's will" in a recent conversation and he said "yep". That's more than the past, so prayers are working, praise God!
Okay, back to blogging and fun stuff....

Family

Though I haven't been posting regularly, my heart is. You see, our family has been under a bit of stress the past week or so, and it's not letting up yet. I know the Lord doesn't give us more than we can handle, but I feel I'm on the border.
Two weeks ago I got a phone call regarding my father. He has an anyrism (?) below his heart and above the kidney. Then during a test they found 2 arteries are very clogged, hence two separate surgeries. My dad has never been in the hospital since the day he was born, that I know of. They are concerned because of his overall health (overweight, excessive alcohol use, and difficulty breathing..oh and he smokes ta boot!) His surgery may be next week some time, for reasons I can not explain here I have chosen not to be there, but am struggling terribly with the possibility of the loss. Hmmm, Let Go and Let God...
Last week we got a phone call that my husband's father needed open heart surgery...pronto! So last Tuesday he flew out to New Mexico to be with his mom & dad. His sister is already there and his brother flew in too. The surgery went well, we just wish he would quite disconnecting things thinking he can leave now. This morning he called to say his mother has been sick, she wasn't even able to go to the hospital, nerves I think.
I am glad I can be here for my husband but all this is weighing on me. Both dad's, though very different relationships, open heart surgery in two different states. I am reminded by a friend this too will pass, but in the mean time I am keeping my self so busy I feel I'm running in circles.
Okay, enough of that. I try to remain positive here, but thought I should let friends know what is going on. Just wanted to rant a bit.
I wish you a peaceful night.

Musings from a Homemaker
A friend told me once she never uses a planner, she allows God to work through her and do "the next thing". I've done that....once....one day. I did get things done I never would have imagined. But I tend to need structure, no, routine, to ensure I really get things done and don't dilly dally my day away. I know to much structure leads me to get frustrated when I get behind, and I have learned that God laughs at our plans and He is in all the changes we didn't plan during our day.
So I as I continue pondering these, would you share what your thoughts are?

A little bird
My garden time
I have been a bit behind since I got phone call on Easter about my Dad. Please pray his eye's and heart are opened to God. He is faced with open heart surgery next week and he, um how do I put this...is not a church going person.
Enough about that. Here are some pictures of my gardening day. I love gardening, but the weather plays a huge part in how much I'm out in it. I try to grow vegi's organically (no pesticides). This day I planted butternut squash and acorn squash. It will take 3 mths. I've never done this one before, oohh I hope they grow. I love to eat them!

Holy Week
Hello Ladies~During this Holy Week of Easter, I feel called to give my full attention to God. So, my blog is on the bottom of my to do list for a few more days.
I would like to ask each of you to pray for those who are priest's, minister's or preacher's, as well as those who are trying to grow closer to the Lord. I am reminded that during this time of year, the emeny likes to reek havoc (?) as much as possible in people who are trying to live their life for God.
I wish you God's peace and Easter Blessings.

A bounty of blessings

God has been so good to us. My health continues to improve, He gives me the words I need as I open my Bible (I love flip & point's), my husband has joined me in prayer before bed, and my teen step-daughter is enjoying sharing with me more. Praise God!

Self portrait

I love my neon green socks! Sometimes I grab socks to reflect my mood (though I don't wear them out of the house, LOL) and this morning I grabbed these. My step-daughter said "Looks great with your BLUE skirt Mom!" I love it, it makes me laugh. Sometimes I have to be silly, it keeps the kid alive in me.

Morning prayer time
This morning during my prayer time, the Holy Spirit led me to some interesting verses. They gave me food for thought and I wanted to share to see what you're thoughts are.
"In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised holy Spirit" Eph 1:13
" Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgive you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts..."Col 3:12-15
"What ever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others" Col 3:23
I love the last one. This has helped me today in looking at what my motives are for doing things. Am I doing them for the Lord...or am I doing them to impress someone else? Hmm...

Catch up & Odd jobs
Saturday is our "Odd jobs" day. I also take advantage of catching up on a few important things that I have missed through the week, like tending to our bedroom...which is a Thursday blessing. This Saturday we (yep the whole family..and hubby didn't even grumble!) went to a couple yard sale's and the open market downtown. Didn't pan out anything except hunger, so we came home. Here are a couple pictures of my catch-up things...tee hee hee I REALLY needed to catch up on what I'm doing in the first picture. ;-)
Must refuel first!
A light dusting, the fan is easily forgotten!
Of course Molly had to catch-up on play time. She loves to run in the sprinklers, goofy dog!

Spring break fun
We learned that no two zebras have the same stripes. Reminds me of us and how God created us...no two the same.
A retired circus elephant playing in the mud.
Yesterday was the first day of spring break for Danielle. They talked me into ditching the laundry chores and going to Wild Adventures. Didn't take much convincing, although today I am trying to play catch up!

Angel bears
The back road barn
I love the time spent living here in the south! I went to visit a friend out on a farm community she lives on and found this on the way! The whole thing is covered in signs. It sits between two cotton fields. I told my husband since we have about 14mths left here in south GA, I want to make sure and get pictures of all the old barns and churches I love around here. Funny, we've lived here for a few years and I just look and them and enjoy them...never thinking to take pictures until I think about us moving.

Garage Salen' Day!
For as long as I can remember, my family has called me "Garage Sale Woman". I have read folks now call it Junkin'. I got a steal on a wooden bookcase that is almost identical to what we have. (DH doesn't give away any books..so our bookcases keep growing.) A tall bookcase, like new $30, and a new summer dress and new blouse. Oh yes, a craft table lamp $5 ! I just love it when I get a good deal.~Homemakersheart
(Notice the boy's look on his face. That is about the same look I got when DH drove up with the truck to pick up the bookcase I found. I just have to love him!)

Pedal
~Homemakersheart
"The Road of Life"
At first, I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of
the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven
or hell when I die.
I recognized His picture when I saw it. but really didn't know
Him.
But later on, when I met Christ, it seemed as though life were
rather like a bike ride, but it was a tandem bike and I noticed that
Christ was in the back helping me pedal.
I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change
places, but life has not been the same since.
When I had control, I knew the way, it was rather boring, but
predictable....It was the shortest distance between two points.
But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up
mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck speeds, it was
all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!" I worried
and was anxious and asked, "Where are you
taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn
to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure.
And when I'd say, I'm scared, He'd lean back and touch my hand.
He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing,
acceptance, and joy.
They gave me gifts to take on my journey, my Lord's and mine.
And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're
extra baggage, too much weight.
So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I
received, and still our burden was light.
I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life.
I thought He'd wreck it; but He knows bike secrets, knows how
to make it bend to take sharp corners, knows how to fly to
shorten scary passages.
And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places,
and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my
face with my delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ.
And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says...... "Pedal.."

Tea Time Birthday
I decided to have a tea party with a few friends for my birthday this year. My dear husband took me to several antique stores and an estate sale so I could get all the teacups and plates I needed. Since I didn't have very much and we were on a tight budget, this was the best way..not to mention the most fun. He even got into looking for teacups and teapots for me. When I found a cup/saucer I liked - I enjoyed to imagining who the women were that may have shared a cup of tea with a friend. We had so much fun.

Toasting to friendship!
Each person got to choose their tea cup! My Grandma on my Dad's side made the table cloth many years ago!
Ohh, the scrumptious food! I got the idea of the flowers in the teacup from a tea magazine. Homemade scones, canoli's and thumbprint cookies (thanks to a woman who loves to bake sweets). The silver tongs on the table is my "find". They are true silver serving tongs, one side is flat and the other is bent for a bit of a grip...guess how much? $3 with some bargaining!

Play time
My dear husband and Molly our boxer enjoying some play time on Sunday. Molly loves to play keep away! The past few Sundays we have really enjoyed keeping it a day of rest and not giving in to working type chores. I prepare what I can for supper Saturday evening and I leave the kitchen until Monday. (Guess what I'm doing today!) Doing this really helps to rejuvinate the body and allow for our soul to give thanks to God for all we have.~Homemakersheart

Lace trimmings
I have always wanted lace in my cabinets. I saw this once when I was younger and I was in an antique store. I just love how it "dresses" up the cabinets. I took everything out of all the cabinets, wiped them out and put things back in some sense of an order. Example: the cabinet on the right is the "serving" cabinet. All things we would use for serving are in there, or at least most of it. The silver bun warmer on the top shelf was my mom's. Now to create the same order in the pantry. eek! That is going to be a challenge!~Homemakersheart

Our new Quilt
My dear Husband and I picked out this quilt last weekend. I love the colors: antique greens, pinks and tan. We had to buy a new bed a couple months ago and upgraded to a King size. Since our old quilt was a queen size and didn't quite fit, we chose to change the colors. God put us in the right place and the right time, there was only 1 and it was a great deal! The new colors give the room a much warmer look. Now for fabric to make curtains.~Homemakersheart
