My garden helper!

I just love my garden helper, don't you? This is Molly our Boxer, not very amused that we put my floppy garden hat on her. We have much to do today to get my garden ready for planting this week. She does the digging and we fill the holes! (Not in the garden!)

Standing on a firm foundation

I have been reading "Having a Mary heart in a Martha world" and doing the Bible study portion on Sunday afternoon's. This past Sunday, Sasha decided to jump up and STAND on my Bible. My step-daughter said "At least she has a firm foundation!" LOL! How true this is.

Garage Salen' Day!

For as long as I can remember, my family has called me "Garage Sale Woman". I have read folks now call it Junkin'. I got a steal on a wooden bookcase that is almost identical to what we have. (DH doesn't give away any books..so our bookcases keep growing.) A tall bookcase, like new $30, and a new summer dress and new blouse. Oh yes, a craft table lamp $5 ! I just love it when I get a good deal.

(Notice the boy's look on his face. That is about the same look I got when DH drove up with the truck to pick up the bookcase I found. I just have to love him!)

Be aware! New driver..

Just wanted to share, my teen step-daughter got her drivers license Wed. People tell us "I don't know whether to say congrats or I'm sorry." I know she will do well though, we all started somewhere (but did it have to be now!) I do wish she was little still.

Pedal

A friend years ago gave me this during troubled times. I have since learned, along with my husband's friendly reminder...Pedal!

"The Road of Life"
At first, I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of
the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven
or hell when I die.
I recognized His picture when I saw it. but really didn't know
Him.
But later on, when I met Christ, it seemed as though life were
rather like a bike ride, but it was a tandem bike and I noticed that
Christ was in the back helping me pedal.
I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change
places, but life has not been the same since.
When I had control, I knew the way, it was rather boring, but
predictable....It was the shortest distance between two points.

But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up
mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck speeds, it was
all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!" I worried
and was anxious and asked, "Where are you
taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn
to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure.
And when I'd say, I'm scared, He'd lean back and touch my hand.
He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing,
acceptance, and joy.
They gave me gifts to take on my journey, my Lord's and mine.
And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're
extra baggage, too much weight.
So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I
received, and still our burden was light.
I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life.
I thought He'd wreck it; but He knows bike secrets, knows how
to make it bend to take sharp corners, knows how to fly to
shorten scary passages.
And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places,
and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my
face with my delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ.
And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says...... "Pedal.."

Tea Time Birthday

My birthday was in January but I have had trouble getting the pictures up here to share. Thanks to hubby and his computer knowledge I finally got them posted.

I decided to have a tea party with a few friends for my birthday this year. My dear husband took me to several antique stores and an estate sale so I could get all the teacups and plates I needed. Since I didn't have very much and we were on a tight budget, this was the best way..not to mention the most fun. He even got into looking for teacups and teapots for me. When I found a cup/saucer I liked - I enjoyed to imagining who the women were that may have shared a cup of tea with a friend. We had so much fun.

Toasting to friendship! Each person got to choose their tea cup! My Grandma on my Dad's side made the table cloth many years ago!
Ohh, the scrumptious food! I got the idea of the flowers in the teacup from a tea magazine. Homemade scones, canoli's and thumbprint cookies (thanks to a woman who loves to bake sweets). The silver tongs on the table is my "find". They are true silver serving tongs, one side is flat and the other is bent for a bit of a grip...guess how much? $3 with some bargaining!

Play time

My dear husband and Molly our boxer enjoying some play time on Sunday. Molly loves to play keep away! The past few Sundays we have really enjoyed keeping it a day of rest and not giving in to working type chores. I prepare what I can for supper Saturday evening and I leave the kitchen until Monday. (Guess what I'm doing today!) Doing this really helps to rejuvinate the body and allow for our soul to give thanks to God for all we have.

Lace trimmings

I have always wanted lace in my cabinets. I saw this once when I was younger and I was in an antique store. I just love how it "dresses" up the cabinets. I took everything out of all the cabinets, wiped them out and put things back in some sense of an order. Example: the cabinet on the right is the "serving" cabinet. All things we would use for serving are in there, or at least most of it. The silver bun warmer on the top shelf was my mom's. Now to create the same order in the pantry. eek! That is going to be a challenge!

Our new Quilt

My dear Husband and I picked out this quilt last weekend. I love the colors: antique greens, pinks and tan. We had to buy a new bed a couple months ago and upgraded to a King size. Since our old quilt was a queen size and didn't quite fit, we chose to change the colors. God put us in the right place and the right time, there was only 1 and it was a great deal! The new colors give the room a much warmer look. Now for fabric to make curtains.

Morning play time!

In the mornings after my family is off for the day, our Boxer..Molly, likes to have play time. She really likes the "binky" that belongs to my step-daughters little dog. Molly threw it up in the air right after I took her picture. What a clown!
